I’m Vilim Tavčar, a Zagreb-born photographer specializing in portrait, fashion, and commercial imagery. My path to the camera was built on years of artistic exploration, from childhood spent immersed in nature to directing VFX-heavy short films and later on in life working professionally as an agency and freelance graphic designer. Over the past two years as a full-time photographer, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with various agencies and publications. Additionally, collaborating with leading fashion photographers in Croatia, serving as the primary assistant to Franjo Matković alongside working with other top talent has given me tremendous professional experience.
Everything shifted around 2013, when I took a photograph that sparked a specific, visceral feeling, a quiet emotional resonance I've been chasing ever since. Today, that gut feeling serves as my ultimate creative compass; if an image doesn't evoke that same instinctual reaction, it isn't finished. I leverage my design foundation to construct precise, high-fidelity visual worlds, blending technical rigor with painterly, fine-art quality.
My brand logo reflects the convergence of the digital landscape and classical fine art: a geometric monogram of my initials, V and T, rooted in the historical croatian Glagolitic alphabet. All three frames being 3:4 aspect ratio serves as a subtle homage to the classic aspect ratio used in most of my photography.
